Primitivo Di Manduria
A full-bodied southern Italian red made from 100% Primitivo, known for its rich fruit concentration, warm character, and smooth structure. The wine reflects Puglia’s hot Mediterranean climate, producing ripe fruit intensity balanced by fresh acidity and soft tannins typical of the Primitivo di Manduria style.
Winemaking process
Piantaferro Primitivo di Manduria is produced from grapes grown in the Manduria zone of Puglia, with fermentation carried out at controlled temperatures between about 24–28°C with regular monitoring. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation to soften acidity, followed by decanting and aging in a combination of large barrels and tonneaux before bottling. This process enhances structure, depth, and the characteristic richness of Primitivo di Manduria wines.
Tasting notes
The wine shows intense aromas of blackberry and plum jam with peppery spice and subtle vanilla notes. On the palate it is rich and warm with lush ripe fruit, baking spice, and a smooth structure supported by light tannins and balanced acidity that lead to a persistent finish.
Food pairings
This wine pairs well with grilled or stewed lamb, roast beef, and hearty meat dishes, as well as aged cheeses and rich Mediterranean cuisine. Its full body and ripe fruit character complement robust flavors and savory dishes.
