La Manufacture
View winesLa Manufacture places its story in the hands of one person: Benjamin Laroche—Chablisien by origin, raised around the vines, then shaped by years working across Rhône, Languedoc, and Bourgogne before returning with a sharper idea of what he wanted to put in bottle.
The name isn’t casual. La Manufacture frames itself as an homage to la belle ouvrage—the French tradition of exacting craft—borrowing the rigor and precision of exceptional “manufactures” (watchmaking, lace) and applying that same discipline to wine.
Location
The house is set in the heart of the Chablis vineyard, and it treats Chablis as something geological before it becomes stylistic.
Their own terroir section points straight to the bedrock: the Kimmeridgian layer (Upper Jurassic), described as the foundation from which Chablis draws its purity and the mineral edge that made its reputation worldwide.
Winemaking & Philosophy
The project is built around selection and restraint: Benjamin Laroche describes searching for qualitative “gems” in the vineyard—parcels farmed with precision—then isolating those lots and releasing them under the seal of La Manufacture’s idea of excellence.
From there, the range reads like a Chablis map: an arc from Petit Chablis through Chablis, Premier Cru, and up into Grands Crus, always anchored in the same goal—letting Chardonnay speak clearly across Chablis’ many climats rather than smoothing everything into a single generic “Chablis” taste.
