Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Il Conventino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2021 is a structured Tuscan red that highlights the elegance and complexity of Sangiovese from the hills surrounding Montepulciano. Known locally as Prugnolo Gentile, this clone of Sangiovese forms the backbone of the wine, producing a classic DOCG expression with vibrant fruit, refined tannins, and aging potential.
Winemaking process
The grapes are hand-harvested from organically farmed vineyards around 350 m elevation in Montepulciano. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with about 15–18 days of maceration, followed by aging for roughly 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks and additional bottle aging before release, developing complexity and smooth tannin integration.
Tasting notes
The wine shows aromas of black cherry, plum, and violet, layered with subtle notes of black pepper, tobacco, and earthy spice. On the palate it is full-bodied yet balanced, with firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, elegant finish typical of Vino Nobile wines.
Food pairings
This wine pairs well with braised meats, roasted beef, game dishes such as wild boar, and hearty pasta with rich sauces. Its structure and tannins also complement aged cheeses and traditional Tuscan cuisine.
