Sangiovese
A medium-bodied southern Italian red made from 100% Sangiovese, offering a smooth, fruit-forward style with fresh acidity and soft tannins. The wine reflects Puglia’s warm climate and iron-rich soils, producing ripe fruit character balanced by structure and approachability.
Winemaking process
Petraio Sangiovese is produced from hand-harvested grapes grown in southern-exposed vineyards in Puglia on organic, iron-rich soils. The fruit undergoes about ten days of maceration followed by temperature-controlled fermentation and malolactic fermentation to soften acidity and develop texture. The wine is typically crafted without heavy oak influence to preserve varietal purity and fresh fruit character.
Tasting notes
The wine shows bright berry aromas with hints of strawberry, black cherry, and subtle spice, supported by smooth, silky tannins and refreshing acidity. Light oak nuances and a soft, rounded texture contribute to a balanced and approachable finish.
Food pairings
This wine pairs well with cheeses, olives, pizza, and pasta dishes, as well as Mediterranean cuisine and simple grilled foods. Its fresh acidity and supple structure make it versatile for everyday meals and savory dishes.
