Rosso di Montepulciano
Rosso di Montepulciano 2021 from Il Conventino is an approachable Tuscan red that highlights the freshness and elegance of Sangiovese from the Montepulciano area. Often considered the younger, fruit-forward counterpart to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, it offers bright fruit character, lively acidity, and a smooth structure designed for everyday enjoyment.
Winemaking process
The grapes are harvested from vineyards around Montepulciano and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with skin maceration for roughly 10 days to extract color and aromatics. The wine is then refined in large Slavonian oak barrels before spending a short period aging in bottle, helping integrate tannins while maintaining fresh fruit character.
Tasting notes
The wine presents aromas of red berries, blackberry, and rose petals with subtle herbal spice reminiscent of sage. On the palate it is fresh and silky, showing notes of cherry, currant, and earthy nuances with soft tannins and vibrant acidity that keep the finish lively and balanced.
Food pairings
This wine pairs well with grilled meats, pasta with tomato sauces, poultry, and cured meats. Its bright acidity and moderate body also make it an excellent companion for pizza, roasted vegetables, and traditional Tuscan dishes.
