Primitivo
A medium- to full-bodied southern Italian red made from 100% Primitivo, showing ripe fruit intensity, smooth texture, and balanced acidity. The style reflects Puglia’s warm climate, producing a juicy, fruit-forward wine with round structure and approachable character.
Winemaking process
Petraio Primitivo is produced from hand-harvested grapes grown in southern Italian vineyards with favorable sun exposure. The fruit undergoes about ten days of maceration followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel to preserve freshness and fruit character. The wine is crafted in a smooth, approachable style, and some bottlings may see short oak aging to add depth and richness.
Tasting notes
The wine shows aromas of black and red berries with hints of cherry, plum, spice, and light earthy notes. On the palate it is juicy and fruit-driven with flavors of raspberry and black cherry supported by baking spice and subtle sweetness, finishing smooth with ripe tannins and balanced acidity.
Food pairings
This wine pairs well with Mediterranean cuisine, grilled meats, pasta dishes with tomato or meat sauces, and hearty dishes such as meatballs or chicken parmesan. Its fruit-forward character and moderate structure also complement grilled vegetables and savory dishes.
